AWS

Arabs with Synthesizers (AWS) are synthesizer- based producer and composer duo from Amman, Jordan, founded in 2015 by Basel Naouri and George Rizeq.

By molding synthesized sounds with organic rhythms, infusing obscure microtonal soundscapes with sampled fragments from their daily lives, AWS take you on a journey of their own time and space. Imagine a parallel world where digital ghosts of the past and future fragments of you communicate through heavenly melodies and dark rhythms.

Their aim is to explore new worlds of sound and music that defy the conventional. Though much of their work carries oriental elements, their aim is to push both the traditional and modern forward – abdicating responsibility to preserve the authenticity of any of the moving parts of their sound.

AWS create carefully designed musical narratives that celebrate our cultural and technological differences, a world where space and time reveal themselves through a series of mysterious sonic encounters. They are driven by a fascination of the unknown and place themselves in between alternative and avant-garde.

Often collaborating with powerful Arab vocalists, their style will appeal to both your Palestinian grandmother and your Aphex Twin-loving neighbour. Their live sets are an eclectic journey through sound and emotion.
